  3. Step 3: You're set

When you land, bars appear and data just works. Give it a minute or two.

Turn on Data Roaming · 50s · no sound, captions on screen. The same steps are written below.

Here's the slightly silly bit. Your kimsim eSIM connects to local networks as a "visitor", so your phone treats it as roaming. If Data Roaming is off for that line, the phone simply refuses to use it. No bars, no data, lots of swearing.

You won't be charged roaming. kimsim is prepaid. The switch just tells the phone it's allowed to connect.

Leave it off on your home line

Roaming on your home SIM is the expensive one: that's billed by your home carrier. Keep Data Roaming off there, and make kimsim your mobile data line.

Still no data?

Give it two minutes. Then restart the phone. If there are still no bars, try these steps.

Stuck? Don't delete it. Restart your phone first.
